Spent two weeks out in Europe visiting Prague, the farm, Dresden, Berlin, and Vienna with Evan before I started preparing for medical school. I arrived at the farm on July 8th after an awesome few days in Prague. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as I'd never really formed a complete picture of what Evan was doing in the Czech Republic in the first place, let alone what the farm would look like. However, after a couple wrong turns we eventually made it up there and the place was nothing like I'd expected. No farm animals or crops. Instead there was an old farm house, two barns, and a tiny cottage--just a little ways down from K-burg Once on the farm, I got a grand tour from Evan (hopefully to be posted soon) and it's pretty incredible where the place is now compared to what it was like upon Evan's arrival in March.
While at the farm I did a variety of things. Went to a near-by quarry to go swimming with the local Czechs, enjoyed an amazing meal on our outdoor bonfire, and helped Evan clear out a thicket of weeds and stones to create a lounge/picnic area for future guests. However, the big event was a 70km bike ride to Konigstein Fortress in Germany. The trek was the most amazing yet debilitating bike rides. 70km in itself isn't too bad, yet throw in some monster hills on a mountain bike that was made for someone 5 inches shorter than myself, and it turned out to be a brutal few hours. Despite my agony, however, the ride took us through a variety of small German towns that were pretty incredible and also culminated in our tour around the actual fortress which was enormous.
Anyway, the little time I spent at the farm was fantastic, and I can't thank Evan enough for the hospitality.
